Wizard 101 First Impressions
Wizard 101 is a fantastic game which exudes charm and fantasy around every turn, While the game is Family Friendly and geared towards younger players. Adults who are just big kids (like me) will also have fun with this game!
Great Turn Based Gameplay, Fun for all Age Levels
The game is almost a mixture of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7 meaning it's Turn Based, which for some people might be a let down but otherwise this is a fantastic game for anyone who likes Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 7. And even if you don't like Turn Based, give this game a try it might just have that hidden charm and storyline to get you to like this style of game.
Character Creation, while a bit limiting is very creative
You begin by creating a Character which is done by answering a series of questions designed to determine "what type of Wizard you are" while i'm sure some people would be frustrated by this type of creation, I thought it was pretty creative. One problem with this system is that at the beginning of the game everyone looks almost exactly the same with little variation.

The Character Creation straight from the start shows the games charm and creativity.
The centralized storyline of the game is great!
Many MMORPG's have a loosely thrown together storyline, not Wizard 101 the game starts with you playing with the Headmaster (Ambrose) and fighting his evil Arch Nemisis. The game cleverly allows you the freedom to obtain Quests and ultimately lead your own story while tying it all into the central storyline worthy of a Single Player Game, which really adds a whole lot to the game.
It also helps that every NPC has a voice-over, and while some of the Voice-Overs are a bit cheesy it's better than most MMORPG Games.

Wizard 101 has an intriguing central storyline which instead of getting you to skip over causes you to come back to "see what happens next"
Controls are almost flawless.
The controls of the game were very intuitive and we liked it very much With the exception of not being able to strafe (sidestep) left to right.

Controls in Wizard 101 Are snappy, responsive, and intuitive which is nice
Combat is phenomanal (for Turn Based Fans) Animation and Graphics are great!
Some people think Turn Based games can be pretty dull, Wizard 101 might even give those types of people a run for their money with the awesome animations that the game has for each attack which is initiated by a "Spell Card" (Think YuGiOh) You start out with a small amount of Spell Cards and can obtain more cards throughout the game to use in your arsenal.

The Combat Animations of Wizard 101 are probably the coolest thing about the game!
The Mini Games
The Mini Games in Wizard 101 Are creative because the way that you regain Mana is by playing the Mini Games, which makes the game alot more fun by adding some variety and spice to the otherwise grinding style of gameplay.

The Mini Games in Wizard 101 Are required to regain Mana and Health and are remakes of classic games like Dig Dug
So that is our first impressions of Wizard 101 stay tuned we will be going over PVP aspects of the game and give the game a final rating and review soon.
